Milan based newspaper Corriere della Sera have taken a look at the strange situation of Nicolo Zaniolo, who despite having never played a single minute in Serie A ever, let alone this season, has received a call up from Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini.

Undoubtedly talented and regarded as one of the top Italian talents currently, Mancini’s decision to call upon him for the Azzurri is a surprising one with the Azzurri to take on Poland and Portugal in the new UEFA Nations League over the international break.

The 19-year-old midfielder left Inter in the summer for Roma as part of a deal that sent Radja Nainggolan to the San Siro having spent just a season on the books of the Nerazzurri, where he was one of the main protagonists in the Primavera continuing their recent record of success, scoring 14 goals and tallying 11 assists in 35 games across all competitions.
