Luciano Spalletti’s new contract as Inter head coach has made him the third highest-earning coach in Serie A, according to a study in the Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday.

The Milanese publication have taken advantage of the upcoming international break to delve into the salaries that each of Italy’s top flight teams are paying for the 2018-19 season, detailing how much each player in the league earns and comparing the various wage structures at each club.

As part of the study they have also analysed how much each coach is earning, with Spalletti’s €4.5 million-deal putting him third behind Massimiliano Allegri (who currently earns €7.5 million per season) and Carlo Ancelotti (€6.5 million).

“Spalletti is the highest earner of all at Inter after signing a contract extension in the summer,” they write. “Only [Mauro] Icardi and summer signing [Radja] Nainggolan are being paid as much as he is.”

Eusebio Di Francesco is the next best paid coach at €3 million, with Gennaro Gattuso and former Inter boss Walter Mazzarri close behind.
