In an interview at Coverciano, where he is currently training with the Italy squad, Cristiano Biraghi, the Fiorentina defender, explains who his role-models and players of reference are in his position.
Not forgetting an example that he was able to enjoy up close and personal during his years at Inter, he describes who inspires him the most: ” I am inspired by Maicon, who at Inter I had as a teammate, then there is Aleksandar Kolarov, Domenico Criscito and Alex Sandro.”
Both Cristiano Biraghi and Maicon were at Inter during Jose Mourinho’s iconic treble winning campaign. Maicon was considered the best right back in the world during his time at Inter and it is clear that he left a huge impression on the then 18 year old Cristiano Biraghi.
Cristiano Biraghi is part of the former Inter Manager Roberto Mancini’s latest Italy squad for UEFA Nations League games against Poland and Portugal, alongside Inter’s Italian midfielder Roberto Gagliardini.
