While Lautaro Martinez has been forced to admit defeat and return to Luciano Spalletti’s squad in Milano, the physical problem that Mauro Icardi suffered shortly before his call up to the Argentinian national team could heal very quickly.

This, according to Diario de Cuyo, is the hope of the medical staff of the Albiceleste, who are hoping for an improvement with the condition of the Inter captain during the week which would allow him to play a few minutes in the second friendly against Colombia during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday CET.

Icardi is yet to score for his national side and has only made four official appearances to date, however, with a new manager in charge and a hugely underwhelming World Cup, Argentina are looking to the future and clearly see both Icardi and Lautaro as part of their long term plans alongside Fiorentina’s Giovanni Simeone, son of former Inter legend Diego Simeone.
