After Italian national team coach Roberto Mancini made his plea to the Serie A teams to play more Italian players, the debate within the country has raged with two sides emerging, one side who agrees with Mancini and one side which disagrees with him.

Torino Sporting Director Gianluca Petrachi belongs to the latter category, something he made clear in an interview with RMC Sport stating that: “There wasn’t even a single Italian player playing for him when he coached Inter, we have to remember what has happened in the past. The Italian system is sick, rules must be set and must be respected, but the system has been getting worse and worse.

Petracchi continued blasting the FIGC and Lega Calcio stating that “nowadays there are too many politicians and few people who know anything about football. If you do not respect the rules, our sport will not have a good future.”
