During an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Youri Djorkaeff discusses the current Serie A season, Inter’s transfer window, and their new owners.

“Serie A is a very good league this season. The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has led to an increase in interest in the league. Juventus are a very strong team and are still considered to be the number one favorites for the title, as evidenced by the results of the first few games. It is difficult to make predictions in the Champions League because there are many factors that can influence those games.”

Inter was named the ‘Anti-Juve’ by many, can Inter really compete with Juve?

“In my opinion, Inter have what it takes to compete with Juve, and at the very least can make it in the top four.”

But Inter have had a weak start to the season apart from the game against Bologna.

“When you have a market like Inter has had, it taes some time to get all the new players to gel. It takes time for all of these players to understand what the coach expects from them and to even understand the Italian league.”

How would you rate Inter’s transfer window?

“I would it rate it highly, even though they lost important players like Rafinha and Cancelo. They brought in many players that have strong personalities and abilities that can make the difference.”

Which signing did you like the best?

“Nainggolan is a player that Inter were definitely missing because he has strength, intensity, and an eye for goal. He will surely do well at Inter and be an idol for the fans.”

Icardi is also a player that is in the fan’s hearts, but he still has not scored after three games.

“Icardi is a player who makes a lot of movements in the penality area and is known for his huge scoring ability. I like him a lot as a striker and I know that once he starts scoring he will not stop.”

Is Spalletti the right coach to bring Inter back to their winning ways?

“Last year he did a great job by qualifying for the Champions League. He achieved the goal that was asked of him at the beginning of the season. He is a very experienced coach and everyone knows that.”

What do you think of the fact that Inter is now owned by foreign giants instead of Massimo Moratti?

“The new owners have given strong signals by spending on the market this year and they have done everything right so far. They want to build a strong Inter, but to get back after a difficult period will require time.”
