Lautaro Martinez spoke on Diego Milito’s influence on him and shared his desire to set-up a foundation to help others out in an interview with Clarin.
Firstly the Argentine discussed who his favourite striker is and who inspires him.
“My favourite striker? I have always said it is Falcao. I admire him for his way of playing and I identify with him.”
Martinez then spoke on ex-Inter striker Milito’s impact on him at Racing Club and even now.
“He helped me a lot even off the field when I started out when I came to train with the first team. Even now that I am far away he calls me, he asks me how I am and looks out for me. I am also grateful to him because when he was a player he told me two or three things that I was able to utilise.
Martinez also spoke on compatriot Facundo Colidio who is currently in Inter’s youth setup and regarded as a top prospect like himself.
“I met him when I arrived in Milan. He is a very happy person, who trains hard. We are mates and he is really an excellent guy.”
The youngster concluded the interview by sharing his ambition to set-up his own foundation.
“I always try to help where I can, whether in a hospital or in In Bahia Blanca. I always try to lend a hand and now I’m trying to talk to people from Buenos Aires, who also work for Racing and are part of Racing Solidario to create our own foundation and help people, which is the most important thing
I have not talked to Javier Zanetti – who has his own foundation – about this subject yet, because there were more important things to solve first. When things are quieter we will talk about it. I really want to open a foundation and it is important to do it well.”
