Inter striker Lautaro Martinez spoke on his growing relationship with teammate Mauro Icardi and shared his excitement at having the chance to compete in the Champions League.

“I’m learning a lot from Icardi, he’s giving me a big hand and I thank him for it. We spend a lot of time together, also off the field. He’s been helping me in these first few months and I’m grateful for this. He always gives 100 percent to his teammates, is always available to help the new lads and is very strong technically,” Lautaro said in an interview with Argentine outlet Clarin.

“He knows how to get past both centre-backs and it’s important that we get balls from the back. We are a new team, with many new players. We’re still getting to know each other and we’re still getting to grips with Luciano Spalletti’s ideas.”

The Argentine youngster proceeded to discuss being in the Champions League and his move to Inter.

“I’m happy to play in the Champions League. We’ll play some beautiful games against Barcelona, Tottenham and PSV, so we’ll try to do our best to make history.

“Everything is happening so quickly, from leaving Racing for Inter to passing through the national team.

“I grew up on a football pitch and ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of turning professional so I prepared myself to realise that dream, trying to take as much as I could from good examples. Today I do everything naturally.”
