UEFA could be set to announce a third European competition from 2021 along with the Champions League and the Europa League. The Corriere dello Sport discuss the possibility of a third European competition along with market deadlines.

“It is almost obvious that a third competition will be added. The European Club Association want more big teams to be involved in European competitions. The admission criteria for this new competition are still to be determined along with the importance of it in comparison to the Europe League.

The coaches would like the market to close for all the leagues on the same day, but this request is almost impossible to fulfill because Eastern clubs often expect to know if they are qualified for the Champions League or the Europa League before they decide to invest. The plan is to try to find a common deadline for the 5 major European leagues: La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, the Premier League, and the Serie A.”
