While on loan at Santos, Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa appears to have rekindled the form that lead to Inter paying €30 million in 2016 and his manager at Santos Cuca, deserves a lot of credit for helping him in his recovery.
Brazilian news outlet Torcedores in fact believe there is four key things that Cuca has done to help Gabigol out.
The first factor is a change of role on the pitch. Since his return to Santos, Cuca has deployed Gabigol as a false nine, a position where he has found great success due to the additional freedom he now has in the attack.
Secondly, Cuca speaks often with Gabigol so to keep him motivated and on track as he was aware he had to work on the psychological aspect of his game just as much as the playing part.
Thirdly, Cuca publicly defended the Brazilian striker when the Peixe were going through a hard time.
Fourth and finally, Cuca has focused on improving the team as a whole and in the way that they attack. The new ideas have allowed Gabigol to express himself to the best of his ability.
