Turin based newspaper Tuttosport have taken a look at the struggles faced by the many highly rated players to have left Atalanta in recent years for pastures new and how they have struggled without the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini. One such player is Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini.

“The midfielder did not seem particularly bright against Poland, but the real problem is that in over a year with Inter, he has not yet managed to fully crack the Nerazzurri team.

“Indeed, he ended up off of the Champions League squad list: a decision taken not due to the technical abilities but because of the limitations imposed by UEFA on Inter for financial fair play.”

“Like Gagliardini, Caldara, Cristante, Grassi and Kessié are players who have not yet been able to repeat performances they put in in Bergamo.”

Since arriving in January 2017 from the Bergamo based club, the Italian international has made 52 appearances in a Nerazzurri shirt and has this season only been limited to a single appearance across all competitions.
