It is looking increasingly likely that Mauro Icardi will in fact play from the beginning against Parma despite the reports for most of this week stating that Keita Balde would instead play as a striker to allow the 25-year-old to rest ahead of the Champions League.

Broadcaster Sky Sport Italia report that should Icardi perform well enough in training tomorrow it will be very difficult for manager Luciano Spalletti to snub him for the match on Saturday afternoon at the San Siro.

Whether he starts or not, one thing for sure is that he will not play the full game against the Ducali, this to allow himself to recover in time for Tuesday night against Tottenham Hotspur.

The club captain showed himself to be in full fitness over the international break despite going in to it injured and this could also play a big part in Spalletti making his ultimate decision.
