Inter club captain Mauro Icardi spoke to Inter TV following Inter’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur which was his first ever taste of Champions League football, something he marked with a goal.

“It was a good goal and luckily it went in. Scoring from range isn’t my thing but it is alright though, I am all happy both for the goal and for the victory.”

He proceeded to speak about the need to improve still and the standard of opponents they were up against.

“We can improve. We have to try things during games and in training and then you never know what can happen.

“We came across a different team than the standard opponent we face in the league. They played to the last whistle but we managed to find the solution to score goals many times. We did a lot of running and worked hard as we really wanted this victory.”

Icardi concluded the interview by thanking the fans for their continued support which drove the team on to get the win as well as praising teammate Vecino

“I can say that even before I scored my goal the fans had always been there, continuing to sing and cheer as they always do for Inter. After my goal we did not give up and it is thanks to the fans that we got the victory. We can always find Vecino in the box.”
