Luciano Spalletti is the main man behind the first episode of the 2018-2019 online magazine edition of the UEFA Champions League, in which he was interviewed ahead of the first matchday of the competition.

The Inter coach reveals his feelings about the historic return of the Nerazzurri club after six seasons of absence and about his return to the Europe’s premier competition having already tackled it in charge of Roma and Zenit St. Petersburg:

“Those two adventures, as well as the one with Inter, are very valuable experiences for me, I have great memories of every experience, but I do not hide that being able to bring this great club back to where it deserves, after many years, is something I’m particularly proud of.”

Inter have won the Champions League three times, but for Spalletti these previous achievements “should not represent a burden, but if anything, a huge stimulus. The past is an inspiration to leave a mark and become part of the next story.”

Among the new purchases of the summer, the most resounding name is that of Radja Nainggolan, who, as the Certaldo technician describes: “He has a way of playing that has, as a fighter, gives life to these important moments that during a game can give us something different, something we did not have in this team previously.”

When asked about the knockout stages, Spalletti concludes: “It’s simple, we want to pass this round, that’s the main goal, where dreams become reality for each of us.”
