Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella has revealed that he has come close to joining Inter on a number of occasions throughout his career ahead of the match between the two sides this weekend at the Marassi in Genoa.

“When I played for Udinese, after a game Jose Mourinho told me to go to them. I was close to Inter on two or three occasions but the negotiations did not materialise,” the veteran striker said in an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb.

Quagliarella was then asked if he was thinking about his next goal already but admitted it is something he does not do.

“Every game has different episodes and different occasions, I never think about how I can score at all, ninety minutes is a long time, let alone against teams like Inter.”

So far this season for the Genoese club, the 35-year-old has made five appearances across all competitions and has two goals and two assists to show for it.
