Inter midfielder Borja Valero spoke with Sky Sport after the 1-0 win over Sampdoria tonight and stressed that Inter now need to get themselves even further up the league table.

“This is a very important victory for us. We struggled both on Tuesday and today, but that is okay. The Champions League triumph gave us a load of confidence and after the three points against Tottenham, we had to conquer the Marassi. We now have to get ourselves further up the table,” the Spaniard said.

Up next for Inter is Fiorentina on Tuesday night and Valero is looking forward to coming up against his former employers.

“We have to win on Tuesday, but Fiorentina is a good team and they are doing very well, it will be exciting for me to play against a team that gave me so much.”

The veteran has been a second half substitute in each of the last two games and after coming on, Inter have went on to win both games.

“In these last two games I gave my best even if I played for a few minutes. Luck would have it that my entry into the field brought a change of result a few minutes later.”
