Inter manager Luciano Spalletti revealed he believes that Inter’s win over Sampdoria is equal to that of the win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Tuesday night in the post-match press conference.

“We won it deservedly, the team did well. Sampdoria could have also won it. It was a nice game and we are happy to have brought home the three points. The team did not give up. We played with determination until the end. The result against Samp today is equal to that of the one against Tottenham.

“In the first half we did little but were much better in the second half, thanks to the link up between Radja Nainggolan and Mauro Icardi.”

Inter had two goals chopped off because of VAR and Spalletti insisted Inter can’t allow moments such as this to put them off and put any possible result at risk.

“I am in favour of the Var. I have been told that the the two goals were rightly cancelled. The first goal was perhaps a bit offside but I do not care, it is not my job. I have to make the team work and an episode cannot decide the result. We have to move forward despite the episode.”

He concluded the conference by speaking on being sent to the stands for the way in which he celebrated Marcelo Brozovic’s winner.

“It was wrong. I only shouted and turned to the camera.”
