Inter’s wins over Tottenham and Sampdoria this week could turn out to be ‘much more than two victories’, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Luciano Spalletti’s side picked up their second league win of the season on Saturday as a stoppage-time goal from Marcelo Brozovic sealed a 1-0 success over Sampdoria, enabling the Nerazzurri to build on the feelgood factor generated by the dramatic Champions League win against Tottenham in midweek.

“Spalletti said it before the match and he was right,” the Milanese publication wrote on Sunday. “These are much more than just two wins.

“They should enable Inter to kick on with renewed energy this season and recover the confidence that they had during the summer, before it was dissipated by the early defeats.

“The hero of the night [on this occasion] was Brozovic, the player who’s received most criticism of all so far this season: if he keeps improving then Inter will keep improving.

“Inter’s performance at Marassi confirmed that they still have problems but now it will be a little easier to work on fixing them. Their legs are improving and they have a different spirit.”
