Ahead of tonight’s match at home to Fiorentina, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti has spoken to broadcaster Sky Sport on his ambitions for the match.

“We have not yet done our best and we have to find our place in the league standings by recovering points lost along the way so far. We have to win as many points as possible.

“We must try to be a team that plays the same football from the beginning to the end. Now the team is growing after achieving some results in the last minutes. There is a stronger character and a more obstinate search for success, but there are still some things we have yet to eliminate.”

Spalletti proceeded to defend Mauro Icardi’s start to the campaign and looked back to last season to explain that Icardi’s situation is very similar to how it was last campaign.

“I see the number of touches that Icardi makes each game has become a common theme for debate. If we look at how many touches he got last season the numbers are equal to now and he managed to score thirty goals last season. It would be interesting to see how many touches those around him have as because he is tighter marked it frees up others to touch the ball.”
