Tonight’s clash between Inter and Fiorentina is also a clash between two prolific Argentinian strikers, Mauro Icardi and Giovanni Simeone, which Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport focuses on in today’s paper.
According to the report “Icardi was not ok against Sampdoria, but immediately gets another chance against one of his favorite teams against whom he has scored 10 goals on. Simeone on the other hand is currently having a happier time right now. Icardi still has to deliver, 315 minutes in the Serie A and no goals as this is the first time since he arrived at Inter that the Argentinian has not scored for 5 Serie A matches, having only scored the beauty against Tottenham so far.
“Simeone’s record so far is better, 2 goals in 450 minutes against Chievo with his father Diego in the stands and against Sampdoria plus one assist as opposed to Maurito who does not contribute in any other way if he fails to score. But he is like that, he lives for the goal and when he gets started he is a machine. Spalletti keeps on pushing him, cuddling him because he knows that Icardi sooner or later also will unlock himself in the championship as well” the Gazzetta continue.
In conclusion the Milano based newspaper warn Inter that: “Giovanni is one of the pillars in the Fiorentina team, young and devoted to the attack that Pioli currently is building. Both are waiting for a renewal, Icardi’s extension contract until 2023 just lacks a few details. Simeone is a Viola until 2022, but a new contract is being prepared, where the salary is much higher.”
