Inter match-winner Danilo D’Ambrosio spoke with Sky Sport Italia after the 2-1 victory over Fiorentina at San Siro to analyse the performance and its impact.

“It was the victory that we wanted, we knew that Fiorentina would not make things easy for us and they played well but we kept calm and got the second goal. There are no easy games and we wanted to give continuity to our positive results recently. Against us teams always give something more and it is up to us to raise our level of concentration and then our quality makes the difference.

The full back found himself in rather unfamiliar territory as he bombed in to the box and netted Inter’s second goal and he discussed the goal from his point of view.

“I knew that if I got past Hugo that I would have found myself face to face with the goalkeeper. Mauro Icardi gave me the right ball and after that I was good at anticipating the goalkeeper and scored.”

D’Ambrosio also believes that the poor start has inspired Inter to be more attacking in the past few games.

“The negative results at the start of the season lead us to be more attacking than usual, especially when the result is a stalemate. We are Inter and we must always win, even more so when we are some points behind those at the top.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on the penalty incident involving himself that referee Paolo Mazzoleni waved away.

“I felt contact and could not stand up afterwards but we, as the coach said, do not talk about these things and concentrate on the field.”
