A change in Inter’s starting line-up to face Cagliari tomorrow evening is to be expected. According to Corriere Dello Sport however, that change might come in the form of Lautaro Martinez, who after a full month on the sidelines due to a calf injury, could be fielded by Inter manager Luciano Spalletti from the start.

Spalletti seems to be toying with the idea, supposedly because starting Martinez would not only afford the Argentine youngster some much-needed and desired game-time, but would also present him (Spalletti) with the opportunity to rest captain Mauro Icardi ahead of Inter’s tough Champions League encounter against PSV Einghoven on Wednesday 3rd October.

Apparently, Mr Spalletti considers Lautaro Martinez a centre-forward, not an offensive midfielder, but is not quite comfortable with the idea of shifting Inter’s formation to play with two strikers up top.

Corriere Dello Sport also reports that we are likely to see Roberto Gagliardini and Dalbert Henrique in the starting line-up versus Cagliari, in place of Matias Vecino and Kwadwo Asamoah respectively. Brazilian defender Miranda seems to have fully-recovered, but is expected to sit on the bench and be called upon if and when needed. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Nainggolan, Perisic and Brozovic are expected to start as well. Sime Vsraljko has been training hard at Appiano Gentile, but is still training alone. He is more likely to make his return against Spal on Sunday 7th October, than he is against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League this Wednesday.

Here’s Inter’s probable starting line-up vs Cagliari, according to Corriere Dello Sport:

Inter (4-2-3-1): Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Skriniar, Dalbert; Gagliardini, Brozovic; Politano, Nainggolan, Perisic; Martinez.
