In an interview with broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the 2-0 win over Cagliari, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti analyzed the 2-0 win at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“We did very well and I had the chance to make several changes and we deserved the victory. We lost the ball often when dribbling but it happens to us often and sometimes it’s better to get on with it. We created a lot but we were not as fluid as we would like to have been.”

Spalletti then spoke on the conditions of some of the players.

“Someone like Borja Valero was in great condition and I put some players at risk to end the game, but it had to be done, some of these same players will play in three days time.”

Lautaro Martinez opened his goal scoring account for Inter and Spalletti proceeded to discuss the Argentine starlet.

“For me he is the first port of call when it comes to replacing Mauro Icardi but as he is also technically good he can also play as a supporting strike with Mauro in a 4-4-2 but the team must be good at supporting him likewise.”

Spalletti then spoke on the growth of the defence since the start of the campaign where it looked shaky.

“The defence always plays an important role in the teams balance. Dalbert had a good game and he has enormous potential. Borja Valero and Roberto Gagliardini also had good games and helped out defensively.”

Asked what the results means for the Nerazzurri the manager added;

“The result has taken us to the right area in the standings where the club should be. The season is still long and we still need to get in to the Champions League still.”
