Lautaro Martinez said he ‘feels ready’ to play in Inter’s Champions League match against PSV in midweek after scoring his first goal for the Nerazzurri in the 2-0 win over Cagliari.
The 21 year-old headed in the opening goal at San Siro to put Luciano Spalletti’s men on course for a third league win in a week, with the victory being sealed by Matteo Politano late on, and says he has fully recovered from the injury problems which have plagued him since his arrival in Italy.
“I’m happy because I’ve found the net again after being out injured,” he told Inter TV after the match.
“I’d like to dedicate this goal to my family because they’ve always spurred me on in the most difficult moments. I’d also like to thank Inter’s medical staff.
“I’m very happy, especially for the win. It was a great feeling for me to score at San Siro, we all know the history of this stadium.
“I feel ready to play in the Champions League: I had to miss the first match [against Tottenham] but now we can’t wait to get down to business against PSV.”
Lautaro also spoke of his close friendship with fellow Argentine Mauro Icardi, who was given a rest on Saturday evening.
“We’re good friends, he gives me advice every day. We all know what he does on the pitch.
“We want to do our best so that the coach can count on all of us day after day.”
