Milan mayor Giuseppe Sala spoke on the San Siro and shared his desire to see the two Milanese clubs competing back at the highest level again.

“I support the idea of San Siro being renovated and improved. I am fond of the idea of them sharing the stadium still and I would like to see the beautiful San Siro renovated so that it returns to being La Scala del Calcio. I continue to hope that they agree to stay together at San Siro,” Sala said in an interview on the sidelines of an event as part of the Milano Calcio City event.

Sala proceeded to discuss the two Milanese clubs starts to the campaign and who he prefers between Mauro Icardi and Gonzalo Higuain.

“Both Milan and Inter could have done more. Inter have shown signs of recovery and done well in the last few games. I hope Milan start getting results.

“They are different players but I prefer Icardi, but Higuain has a capacity for production that only few others are capable of. Milan got a great deal with him.”

Sala then spoke on the Champions League returning to Milan and its benefits for the city.

“This is very important for tourism, for us and for hotels. We hope that next season they both get to get there, it’s very important. With Milan looking more stable and I think I can be confident in saying this.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on the importance of the two Milanese clubs returning to their former glorious heights.

“It is very important in terms of results and visibility. Milan is a city that gets a lot of visitors from around the world and football is an opportunity to increase this.”
