Player Ratings – Inter 2 – 0 Cagliari: Three Wins In A Row In The Serie A

Lautaro made his first start at the Meazza and scored with his first shot on goal and most of us expected a rout. Inter didn’t get a boring win tonight as Cagliari were only stopped by VAR from equalizing before Matteo Politano rifled one past Cragno in the 89th minute.

Samir Handanovic – 7: Always pointed out that Handa stays too close to the goal line and doesn’t attack the ball. Today he did that very well. Even got a kick in the head.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6.5: Danilo must be tired. He’s played each game bar the Tottenham one. Stable, decent performance. No nonsense defending.

Stefan de Vrij – 7: The closest thing to Skriniar in the league. Thankfully Inter have both. Rock solid, cool headed and plays like a veteran. Made only 1 bad pass all night.

Joao Miranda – 6: Conceded too many free kicks tonight. Pavolletti was more than a handful in the air for Miranda. Loses composure sometimes for no reason.

Henrique Dalbert – 7: His best game in an Inter shirt for many. Tackled hard, crossed well. Over-lapped with proper timing and looked the full back Inter signed from Nice.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5: Everyone has been calling out for him to play over Vecino, he didn’t grab the opportunity and might have in fact hurt his case. Looked uncomfortable.

Borja Valero – 6.5: Borja had the most difficult challenge of all today. Replacing Brozovic is not an easy task and he almost managed to do it for 90 minutes. Masterful!

Matteo Politano – 7: Finally got the goal he wanted so much. Attacked all night, was the only consistent forward for 90 minutes. Played everywhere and tested Cragno.

Radja Nainggolan – 6.5: Should have got an assist. Candreva messed up that chance. Fought all night. Slowly but steadily getting into top fitness and that will be a delight.

Antonio Candreva – 5.5: Candreva looked uncomfortable on the left and on the ball. Held on to the ball too long or not at all. The tension showed in that 1 v 1 that he missed.

Lautaro Martinez – 7: What a debut at the Meazza! Brilliant start but his fitness didn’t let him do the same in the second half. Absolute handful for Cagliari’s defenders tonight.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5: The minute Brozo came on he took control of the midfield by the throat. His rise continues to be Epic.

Ivan Perisic – 6.5: Refreshed Ivan created a lot of trouble with some direct running at Cagliari’s defence. Could have got a goal easily tonight. Unlucky.

Matias Vecino – N/A: Not much to do. Was pick-pocketted once by Barella but then returned the favor 2 seconds later.

Luciano Spalletti – 6.5: A step forward as some of our bench players got important minutes and the result gives the right confidence to them. We have dark moments still

Daniele Massa – 6.5: Made a few minor errors but got major decisions right. Good use of the VAR. Not much to complain about tonight and that is refreshing in itself.

Inter – 6.5: The team rests on their laurels too much. It took a disallowed goal to wake them up. Had they continued the way they started this could have been a 5-0 rout.

Agree? Disagree? Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
