Former Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder has praised Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti for the positive impact he had on him in an interview with De Telegraaf.

“Javier is one of a few players from the Triplete team with whom I still have regular contact with. He is an example for everyone because I have never had such a teacher in my life. Javier has the power to be the director of Inter and he radiates it. He talked a lot about faith and eventually convinced me to become a Catholic like him. I found my peace there and I felt good,” the Dutchman said.

Since leaving Inter for Galatasaray back in January 2013, the now 34-year-old midfielder has played for French side Nice and is currently plying his trade in Qatar with Al Gharafa. Sneijder also recently called time on his international career with the Netherlands having made a record 134 appearances for the Oranje.
