Mauro Icardi is closing in on matching Cristian Vieri’s goal tally at Inter, a report from Corriere dello Sport details.
Inter’s club captain and talisman currently sits on 109 goals scored across all competitions for the Nerazzurri, 14 behind Vieri, who netted 123 goals for the club between 1999-2005. Based on Icardi’s performances in recent seasons, it is more than reasonable to suspect – or even expect – that the 25-year-old will not only match but also beat Vieri’s tally. Once past Vieri, next in sight for Icardi will be Istvan Nyers’s goal tally of 133 goals.
The Rome based newspaper also report that Icardi has more than just Vieri’s goal tally in his sights and state that he is also eyeing a new contract with the club.
His wife and agent Wanda Nara has already met with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio to hold talks and it is understood that Inter’s proposal is not what Icardi was looking for.
