Ricardo Cheu, Dalbert’s former manager at Academica Viseu, has revealed he is not surprised that his former protege finds himself doing well these days in an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb.

“When he arrived in my team his potential was immediately clear. For me it is not a surprise that he is in Italy. He has encountered some difficulties in the adaptation phase though. The tactics are a big thing in Italy, it is different for him and he has to improve in the defensive phase.

“He has to improve but he has everything to improve to become one of the best in his role. When he arrived at Inter I said in an interview that he would soon be in the Brazilian national team. Marcelo is currently the best in the role but Dalbert can be a good option in the future for them.”

Cheu concluded the interview by admitting that Dalbert has not let the fame get to his head and remains the humble guy he first met.

“Dalbert is a young man who always thinks of his family. Even now that he is an established footballer he does not forget his family, Dalbert is the same guy I met when we were together in Portugal.”
