Gazzetta dello Sport have reviewed the performance of Inter club captain Mauro Icardi in Inter’s 2-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League last night in what was arguably his best performance this season.

In the midst of the boos and the whistles at the Philips Stadion, Mauro Icardi showed his character and that he was never afraid while he added to this seasons goal tally and hit the 110 goal mark at Inter. His goal sent the 1600 strong travelling Inter support in Eindhoven crazy and pushed Inter that bit closer toward qualifying for the next round.

After a somewhat slow start he eventually came out the blocks and would have 9 attempts at goal, 1 short of his personal record for shots in a single game.

Icardi was both important and decisive during the game and his presence in the box largely helped Nainggolan to score the equaliser.

Up next for Inter in the Champions League is his former club Barcelona where he will no doubt wish to make his mark.
