Former Inter player Evaristo Beccalossi does not believe Inter can challenge Juventus for the Scudetto this season and says the Nerazzurri should focus on securing another top-four finish.

Inter will look to extend their winning streak in all competitions to six when they take on SPAL in Serie A this evening, but Beccalossi thinks it would be unfair to burden Luciano Spalletti’s side with too much expectation.

“It would be wrong to say that Inter are Juventus’s antagonist this season,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Having returned to the Champions League this season their task is to qualify for it again next season, whilst going as far as possible in this season’s competition.

“The start they’ve made gives you reason to be hopeful.

“It’s as if there were no ‘anti-Juve’ this season – not least because, unlike in previous seasons, Allegri’s side have not given anything away in these first few weeks, whereas the others have slipped up.”
