Corriere dello Sport have examined the current situation concerning a contract renewal for Inter club captain Mauro Icardi.

“Maurito considers Inter his home and that he wants to stay in the future. It is inevitable, therefore, to think about the renewal of the contract that as of yet has not been signed, but for which the parties are working with extreme serenity and tranquillity. It will only be a matter of time and Icardi will extend his contract with Inter until 2023. Meanwhile, tonight against SPAL, he will try to increase his number of goals in the league, also because on the bench there is a Lautaro Martinez who is raring to go for another chance after his goal against Cagliari.”

Icardi’s current contract also contains a release clause valid only to foreign clubs and for the first two weeks each July and it is widely rumoured this will be increased or removed altogether.
