Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic spoke with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport post-match at the Stadio Paolo Mazza after Inter saw off SPAL 2-1.
“I was expecting a tough game because we lost a lot of energy on Wednesday and when you play a lot of games you lack a bit of nervous energy and that competition needed to be able to play your best football,” the Slovenian shot-stopper said.
“We conceded but we know how to react and brought home a good result. We maybe did not perform as good as in other games but we showed character.”
The veteran then spoke on his saves during the game and SPAL’s missed penalty.
“My saves? I was just doing my job, nothing else. At the penalty I decided to stay still. Attackers must know that goalkeepers can stand still and do not have to dive.”
He concluded the interview by casting his mind back to his error against Torino.
“That was my fault. I went out having anticipated a header…a goalkeepers job involves a lot of risks.”
