Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni held a press conference after the 4-0 win against Iraq in the friendly fixture in Saudio Arabia where Inter striker Lautaro Martinez scored his first goal for his country.
Scaloni was asked if he thinks if Lautaro Martinez and Mauro Icardi can play in attack together to which he replied: “Yes, it is an idea that should not be discarded. We play in a different manner, with various midfielders but I don’t exclude the idea that they can play together. Great players always have a place in big teams as long as the team works.”
“If I see that it works when they play together or with only one of them I will make that decision but I will not discard anything” Scaloni stated.
Inter captain Mauro Icardi sat on the bench for the entire match whilst Nerazzurri team mate Lautaro Martinez scored his first goal in his second cap.
