Former Inter player Nazzareno Canuti, was interviewed by the club’s official TV channel Inter TV where he discussed his former team’s start to the new season.

Canuti began by comparing this season’s start to the last stating that: “Last season the Beneamata began brilliantly, but then re-adjusted to finish in fourth place. In my opinion this was important for the team as, after last season, they began to believe that they can achieve results so long as they play well. Inter’s main strength, however, is that they have such a formidable supporter base. You simply cannot disappoint them. You always have to give your life on the pitch and play as a team. They have improved immensely since the game against Parma. Inter is on track.”

The 62 year old was then asked for his opinions on the coach as well as the upcoming week where Inter will face Milan, Barcelona and Lazio: “For a player, a week like this is stimulating and rewarding. Any player would like to play these games. I think the team will perform well, I am optimistic. As for Spalletti, I consider him to be more than a coach. He is a football teacher and his players learn immediately. The results are important too, as it encourages the team to follow their coach.”

Finally the former defender was asked about Mauro Icardi: “You simply cannot lose sight of him. He is a player who can turn an iron coin into gold.”
