Ex-Inter player Julio Cesar spoke to Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport during the Festival of Sport in Trento about his legendary treble winning side along with discussing the current Inter team and their performances.

He began by talking about his time at Inter: “I spent 7 years at Inter where we did many great things. The fans were happy because we brought them 14 titles and we won more derbies than we lost.”

Let’s start with you ranking your memories. Name your best match, best save, and best derby?

“All my memories with Inter were special, but the best night was in Madrid. The best save was against Messi in the semi-final, and the most beautiful derby was the one in which I saved a penalty from Ronaldinho, who was one of the best players in the world.”

From the past to the present, what do you think of today’s Inter?

“They are doing well, winning the first two games of the Champions League allows you to play with more peace of mind, even if it is not over yet. Now there are two difficult games against Barcelona, but the start gives you a little calmness.”

Your heir, Samir Handanovic, had to wait years to finally play in the Champions League, he has saved Inter in many games has but also received a lot of criticis, how do you rate him?

“In my opinion, Samir is very strong and he will have the chance to prove it even more in the Champions League.”
