Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar are asserting themselves as one of the best defensive pairings not only in Italy but in world football Gazzetta dello Sport believe ahead of them coming up against one of if not their toughest opponent yet in Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain.

Both right footed, each player has a different play style to the other. De Vrij is more tactical and free in a sense whereas Skriniar is more powerful. They will play an important part in teammate Mauro Icardi winning the battle of the Argentine strikers on Sunday night.

While they have not experienced Higuain in their current tandem, they have come up against him previously and the Milan based newspaper recall some of the time’s they have struggled against the former Real Madrid man.

In Inter 2-3 Juventus last season, Higuain scored the winning goal for the Bianconeri due to the Slovak’s poor marking of him. Meanwhile, while at Napoli, Higuain scored twice against de Vrij’s Lazio.
