Inter legend Marco Materazzi spoke on this weekend’s Milan derby among other topics in an interview with Inter TV.

“For me it is not like any others derbies. We are on the right track. The team appears to be concentrated and has a certain badness about them, even in the Champions League where we have six points from six, the derby will be like a Champions League game.

“Scoring a goal in the derby is indescribable. Once you score you feel like a leader and like you’ve executed them by scoring, especially for me as I had often been targeted.”

Materazzi, who spent 10 years with the Nerazzurri, then spoke on the tough run of fixtures that Inter have coming up.

“All the next matches are tough but Inter are proving themselves. The matches will also be difficult for the opponents. Barcelona are struggling in the league so we will have to be good at understanding their weaknesses and also have a bit of luck because at the Camp Nou.”

He then discussed the defence.

“A team must have two or three strong central defenders, Inter have four and it is up to the coach to decide who will play. Skriniar and De Vrij are the starters but all players are getting space.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on catching up with his former teammates at the Festival of Sport event last week.

“It was nice to see them again, we grew up together as men and that pushed us to win on the pitch.”
