Bergomi: “Inter Must Face The Derby With A Tactical Balance”

Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has looked ahead to Sunday’s Milan derby.

“It will be crucial for Inter to face the derby with balance from the tactical point of view. Manager Luciano Spalletti will have to be good at alternating the offensive pressure with the moments of management of the game. Inter are more physical than Milan and have a decidedly longer range of alternatives,” he said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The Nerazzurri, to annoy the Milan, will have to increase the speed of the game, make the ball move faster, and raise the fullbacks to the midfield and take advantage of the insertions of Nainggolan and Gagliardini or Vecino, depending on who will play.

“Milan usually has a decline in the final moments of the matches. Inter will have to be good to exploit this aspect too. Spalletti’s team can count on a greater physicality, which will allow them to take advantage of the latter part of the derby and the one-on-one situations.

Bergomi then spoke on players who he believes could make a difference for Inter on the night.

“Perisic could be decisive. The Croatian, if the best version of him turns up, can give Milan problems and put their full back in difficulty. There is Icardi too who we already know everything about. He is dangereous inside the box.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on Antonio Candreva.

“Candrevaa is a top player, he is a derby man. I really like him. He seemed set to leave Milan in the summer, now, if we think about his contribution so far, just imagine how much Inter would have lost if he did go.”
