Real Madrid are facing some difficulties when it comes to tying down Luka Modric to a new contract according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

“[Real Madrid president] Florentino Perez is finding it difficult to convince Modric to extend his contract for another season. On the table there is an increase in salary to €10 million a year but the Croatian has not yet sat down to deal with it and is thinking about a new experience.”

The Croatian’s reluctance to talk over it comes as good news for Inter who were very heavily linked with him during the summer.

“His stall keeps alive Inter hopes for the near future,” the report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state.

This season, Modric has made 11 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos, who he has played for since 2012. The 33-year-old has tallied two assists and has two years left to run on his current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.
