Inter midfielder Matias Vecino’s condition will be evaluated tomorrow morning after he picked up an injury to his right thigh during the warm-up of Uruguay 4-3 international friendly loss to Japan yesterday, Gazzetta dello Sport detail.

Inter were kept in the dark initially but Vecino reassured Inter manager Luciano Spalletti and stressed the fact that he stopped the second he felt a little niggle as a precautionary measure rather than risk himself and potentially aggravate the injury he has sustained.

With Vecino seemingly doubtful, Roberto Gagliardini is waiting in the wings and ready to come in in place of him for this Sunday’s Milan derby. With his exclusion from the Champions League squad, it always was possible that Gagliardini got the nod ahead of someone who would be playing in the Champions League and Vecino’s potential absence only increases Gagliardini’s chances.

The report also states that Vecino will be the last to return to Appiano Gentile, when he does tomorrow, and the Milan based newspaper stress that he could be suffering from some jet-lag given his long journey from Japan.
