Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri believes Luciano Spalletti’s men are slight favourites for Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina, telling reporters “a draw is useless for both teams.”
Ferri made over 400 appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri during a 13-year spell in the first team, having graduated from Inter’s academy in 1981, and believes the team will need to rely on their physicality to win this weekend.
“Milan has a top quality derby for the first time in a few years,” he told Radio Sportiva on Thursday.
“Inter are more of a physical side whereas Milan are well organised tactically. They’ll both want to impose their own game on Sunday, while also keeping an eye on their opponent’s talented individuals.
“I expect there to be a cagey start before giving way to a spectacular match. In a one-off match Inter are favourites, although in the long term Milan have the same prospects as them.”
