AC Milan’s Spanish winger Suso was interviewed by Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera ahead of the Milan derby where he discussed the season and the previous interest that Inter has shown in him.

The former Liverpool player began by talking about his form this season stating that: “I’m having the best time of my career. I’ve never felt better than I do now, from a mental and physical sense.”

Let’s talk about Gattuso, what’s so special about him?

“He’s a great person, you will never hear anyone saying anything bad about him. Of course, we all have to improve, both the players and the staff, but he came last year at a difficult time, he’s the right person in the right place. I saw him when he used to play on TV, he’s someone who has won everything and I expected him to be more reserved, but we can always talk to him both on and off the pitch.”

Will you not be attracted to other big European clubs? Your father has mentioned Real Madrid before.

“You never know when it comes to the market, maybe at some point they won’t want me anymore. I’m very happy right now though, I do not think about going anywhere else.”

You could have gone to Inter, right?

“For two Summers in a row, there have been offers from Inter for me, but I’m very happy here, I never thought about changing. Inter were interested in me last Summer and I was a bit surprised when Mirabelli publicly stated that he did not know about it, even though we had already talked about it.”

You stated that the Chinese era was a mess, have you suffered from the uncertainties?

“During that period there was a little more confusion, but we as players never had any problems.”

Do you feel a different climate in Milano before the derby?

“Even subconsciously you always keep the derby in mind. It’s a very special game, we’re all focused and ready.”

Many people seem to think that Inter is stronger, what do you think?

“Inter is the favorite, but we have to stay calm. The derby is like a game of poker: you need a bit of luck and a clear mind. We must not be afraid and we need to play our best.”
