Legendary Inter striker Diego Milito was interviewed by Inter TV going into Sunday’s derby della Madonnina at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.
The hero from the all conquering treble winning Inter side stated that: “Every derby is different, but it’s always a special game. I hope that Inter play well and manage to win. Derbies are special in every city, each one has features specific to that derby. But it’s definitely the case that the derby della Madonnina is one of the most significant. I’ve had the fortune of scoring many goals in these matches, but winning was always the most important thing, and we often won. I always prepared for games in the same way, whether it was the Derby or any other match. For me, maximum concentration was important as the smallest details could make the difference.”
Milito was then asked about his own hat-trick in the derby stating that: “It was amazing and will remain in my heart forever because it’s never easy to score three goals in the derby.”
The former Genoa striker then looked forward stating that: “Inter’s fixture list is very difficult, but with the squad they have I think they are capable of performing well in all the games they have to play. With regards to Icardi, he has matured a lot and is a big player in the team. He has really displayed what he can do at Inter and he continues to perform well. I hope he carries on in this way.”
In conclusion Il Pricipe was asked about his thoughts of being reunited with his former teammates from the 2010 Inter team at the Festival of Sport in Trento to which he replied: “It’s wonderful to see great friends again after all this time. We’re older now, but we had great times together and looking back and remembering those times always makes me happy.”
