Inter legend Giuseppe Bergomi played many derby matches for the Nerazzurri against AC Milan during his 20 years at the club, and was interviewed by RAI Sport about his thoughts going into Sunday’s derby.

Bergomi, who is youngest goal scorer in the history of the derby della Madonnina began by stating that: “I expect a derby where both teams look to impose their own way of playing. Inter always do so as they always look to attack, whilst Milan wait and counter, they rely heavily on Suso in order to create a goalscoring opportunity. Inter have to be patient and think about the long run, because the way the team is built physically they can get the best of the match late on.”

Bergomi was then asked who he rates higher of Mauro Icardi and Gonzalo Higuain replying that “Higuain likes to work more for the team and to finish off his work whilst Icardi is more deadly in the penalty area.”

On conclusion the former Nerazzurri captain was asked which other players could become decisive on Sunday stating that: “For Milan their midfielders could become decisive whilst for Inter the physicality of their defenders in the air, especially Stefan de Vrij, could be decisive.”
