Inter’s Italian winger Matteo Politano spoke to the club’s official TV channel, Inter TV, about his thoughts going into the derby della Madonnina on Sunday evening at 20.30 CET at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

How does one prepare for a match like this?

“As you would for all other matches. There are always three points on the line in every match, then we are talking about a derby so it is normal that we want to do well.”

This will be your first match against Milan in an Inter shirt, what are your thoughts on this?

“I am very excited, I can’t wait until it is time on Sunday. You breathe the derby atmosphere, I am very proud, I can’t wait to go out on the pitch.”

What kind of a match are you expecting?

“We are coming from a good period, as are Milan. It will be an evenly balances match, but as in all derby matches there is no clear favorite.”

Milan, Barcelona and then Lazio. Three matches in one week and what matches they are…

“It is true, but we have to take it one match at a time. Right now we are concentrated only on the derby.”

Do you want to make an appeal to Inter’s fans?

“Our fans are exceptional. They always fill the stadium, it is a source of pride for us to go out on the pitch in front of these people. They should be thanked, on Sunday we hope to make them proud.”
