After his return to form in the Brazilian league, the future of Gabriel Barbosa has many options. One is to remain with his boyhood club Santos, although negotiations have not yet begun between the two clubs.

This is the message from Peixe President Jose Carlos Peres who spoke to the Brazilian media this week. As reported by FCInterNews, Peres played down the possibility of a stay: “We have not even begun to negotiate with Gabigol or his representatives. Not even about a potential salary. We have a case which is much more urgent at the moment, and that is Dodo’s.”

It remains to be seen what Inter choose to do with the Brazilian talent. Originally purchased for approximately €30 million, the player failed to shine in both Serie A and on loan at Benfica.

This season has seen Gabigol return to form and currently finds himself at the top of the scorers charts in the Brazilian league. Inter may have the opportunity to recoup some of the money they spent two years ago.
