Inter Vice President Javier Zanetti stopped by Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia to share his thoughts on tonight’s match moments before kick-off in the Derby della Madonnina at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district when Inter host AC Milan in the Serie A.
The legendary former Inter captain stated that: “The derby is always a very special and followed match, I think everyone would like to play in it.”
Zanetti was then asked about AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini returning to the Rossoneri, a player he played against in many Milano derbies, to which he replied that: “He knows very well the great admiration that I first had for him as a person and then secondly as a player.”
Who was the better player out of you and Maldini?
“When Paolo started playing more centrally in the pitch I was happy, that way he didn’t have to play against me on the wings [laughs].”
