Radja Nainggolan believes San Siro is one of the loudest stadiums in Europe and has spoken of his admiration for former Inter legend Ronaldo.

Nainggolan is expected to be part of the Inter starting XI for Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina, as Luciano Spalletti’s side chase a seventh consecutive win in all competitions against city rivals Milan, and gave an interview to the club’s match-day program.

“It’s great for me to be at Inter,” the Belgian said.

“San Siro is incredible, exhilarating. You can hear the fans like in few other stadiums in Europe.

“I’ve never really had idols but I’ve always liked players that are full of quality, like Ronaldo for instance. I watched him because he invented things out of nothing.”

Nainggolan also discussed some of the key moments in his career to date and gave advice to youngsters looking to break through in football.

“It wasn’t easy for me when I was growing up,” he said. “I left Belgium aged 16 and so I want my children to have a good upbringing.

“I’ve scored a lot of important goals in my career: the first was against Treviso while I was playing for Piacenza, with a shot from outside the box. Another one I have in mind is the goal against Sampdoria when I was at Cagliari.

“What I always say to youngsters is that you need to play with a free mind, because that’s what makes the difference.”
