Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is confident the Catalan outfit can still beat Inter on Wednesday evening without Lionel Messi.

Messi fractured the radius bone in his right arm during Saturday’s 4-2 win over Sevilla in La Liga and is expected to be out for around a month, which puts him in serious doubt for the return match at San Siro as well.

However Ter Stegen, who was rumoured to be a transfer target for Inter two years ago, believes Ernesto Valverde’s men have enough strength in depth to overcome their defections against the Nerazzurri.

“We’re about to play two big matches against Inter and Real Madrid and we want to win both of them,” the German told Mundo Deportivo.

“We’ll be without Messi, [Samuel] Umtiti and [Thomas] Vermaelen, but we have great players who can come in and replace them.

“Leo is a key player for us but we have a lot of quality up front, so I’m sure that whoever takes his place will put in a good performance.”
